BIOGRAPHY

Dear Visitors,

I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Yoana Ivanova. I was born in Northwest Bulgaria in 1982. I am currently a PhD student and a Research assistant at the Department of Information Technologies for Security of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since February, 2014. Besides, I am working as a visiting lecturer in New Bulgarian University. I am teaching a Practice in the Synthesis of Realistic Images and Applied Algorithms related to 3D modelling using 3DS Max, Computer skills and Application of Information Technologies for Security.

My technical and artistic background fit very well and this explains my rich experience in the area of Computer graphics. I have worked on a lot of interesting projects related to 3D modelling and animation, Video editing, 3D printing and 2D graphics design for different purposes (Interior design, Game Design, Advertisng design and etc.).

Education and Experience

My professional experience in the area of Computer graphics started in the Advertising department of Economedia in 2007 after my graduation in BSc Communication and Electronics at the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". After my training there as a Graphic designer I continued my career in a specialized publishing house for engineering journals.

On the basis of the professional course in Painting and Drawing from the Bulgarian Academy of Fine Arts (2003-2004) and the specialization in 3D Design for Virtual Environments at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland (2009-2010) I gained a Professional Certificate in Computer Graphics (Third Degree) in 2011.

In 2012 I started a Master degree in Communication and Information Systems and Technologies in Security and Defence at the National Academy of Defense “G. S. Rakovski” that confers completeness of my professional background, combining my technical skills in the most innovative information technologies and my creative experience in digital arts. The theme of my dissertation is "Applying Multimedia Technologies in the Information Systems of the Security and Defence Field".

Projects

  1. "The Magical Museum" (Institute of Mathematics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) - the project is related to creation of a 3D computer game design for the Museum in Pazardzhik (Bulgaria), including 3D modelling of historical artifacts.

  2. "3D Bravia TV" (Sony, Bulgaria) - the goal of this project was to present one of the most innovative 3D technologies nowadays - 3D TV.

  3. "VET-C: Virtual Environment for Team-Collaboration" (Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland) - the project was related to creating a 3D Interior design of two university laboratories for video environment collaboration.

  4. AComIn (Institute of Information and Communication Technologies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) - the project is related to digitalization of the Bulgarian Cultural and Historical Heritage. The idea is creating and printing 3D models of precious assets like: Russian Church in Sofia, Bulgaria; Russian Monument in Sofia, Bulgaria; Fountains in Samokov, Bulgaria; Valchitran Treasure; Basilica of Saint George).
